A flurry of activity canvassed the Belle Sauvage backstage area 30 minutes before the show; a missing model, various stages of giant dip dyed fringes being snipped at, and a hive of Body Shop make-up artists ready to create the show's smoky eyes and statement red lip on the waiting girls. Fast forward to show time and slender figures with Japanese inspired fascinators, giant bunches and block dip dyed fringes were making their way down the Fashion Scout catwalk to retro triply beats. The clothes? A plethora of Eastern prints and tones; Tiger and Dragon prints littered the collection, whilst baroque print mini dresses with delicate lace trim and peter pan collars and block leather panels took centre stage.
Gothic motives made a lasting effect, with some of the girls adorned with black beanies and some seriously skinny patterned leather trousers, topped off with some dominatrix style boots. The statement autumn/winter coat was absent, but in its place a collection of fur collars and capes in reds and blacks draped the models' shoulders as they slinked along the catwalk. The design duo's crowning look of the show? A monochrome blouse and skirt complete with below the knee suede black block heeled boots; perfection.

BACKSTAGE AT FASHION SCOUT: DAY 1 - BELLE SAUVAGE

CUB Beauty Editor Sarah Harrison went backstage at Belle Sauvage,
observing The Body Shop MUA's and Toni & Guy stylists:

The impressive queue collecting around the Freemasons Hall before Anna and I went backstage at Belle Sauvage only contributed to our eager anticipation of what would await us: the typeface and palette on the invites indicated a vibrant East meets West frenzy and I wasn't disappointed (read Anna's review here).

The collision of vibrant and muted palettes was immensely effectual, set off with a customised lipstick: created by combining exclusive new Colour Crush Lipsticks in the shades Enrapture Red and Crazy Sexy Crimson (release date of September) matching the main colour featured within Belle Sauvage's collection. The flawless make-up was contoured with the yet to be released brow palettes which were also used on brows and lips (a multi-use investment product). Sauvage's soft look embraced the essence of "young girl glamour" with a classic soft smoky eye, created with a liner smudged into the lashes - a technique the MUA's chose as it can easily be recreated at home.

Sauvage's AW13 collection was intensified with the creation of killer fringes, bright colour and incredible head pieces Anna and I witnessed first hand the blunt fringes being cut and spray painted to painstaking perfection.    The look touched on the stereotypical Japaneses school girl with elements of Oriental warriors combining a flawless look with edgy colour and lines. The futuristic element of colour was explored with blonde and black hair which was perfectly scraped back into a pair of impressively straight pigtails accompanied by the blunt fringes, which were sprayed around the perimeter of the fringe with either red, white or black.
